Yankee gutters are common on older slate roofs. Many home owners who have built-in or box gutters on their roofs, or Yankee gutters, don’t know the difference between them. The illustrations below, gleaned from old texts, show what Yankee gutters look like. A box gutter (built-in gutter) is shown immediately below.
